How it works

How a case moves with us

Every case is different, but nearly all of them follow these five steps.

  1. 01

Step 1: You call, text or write

Tell us in a sentence or two what's going on. We'll set up a consultation, at the office on César Chávez Avenue or by video.

  2. 02

    Step 2: A first consultation

About an hour with a lawyer. We read your papers, ask about your history, and tell you which paths are open, which aren't, and why.

  3. 03

Step 3: A written plan and a flat fee

If you hire us, you get a letter listing the work, our fee, the government's filing fees and what we'll need from you.

  4. 04

Step 4: We prepare and file

We fill in the forms, gather the evidence with you, and go over every page together before you sign.

  5. 05

Step 5: We stay with you to the end

Notices, fingerprint appointments, interviews: we tell you what each one means, and we go with you to the interview.

Fees, timing and language

What does the consultation cost?

About an hour, with a set fee quoted when you book. If you hire us within 30 days, it counts toward our fee.

Can I pay over time?

Yes, for most flat-fee cases. The payment dates are written into your agreement.

How long will my case take?

The government sets the pace, and it changes. We'll give you the current processing times for your form at the start, and tell you when they shift.

Can we meet by video?

Yes. Many families have their first meeting by video and come to the office to sign.

Your first step is a phone call

Tell us what's going on and we'll book you with the right lawyer.
